Fact check: Is Modi really the last hope of the world?

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned home after completing a three-day visit to the United States, has been described as the 'last best hope in the world', but is it really so?

On the front page of the New York Times, a well-known American magazine on social media, there is a picture of Modiji and a shocking headline which many Indians believe to be true, but the reality is different.

The headline, attributed to the New York Times, reads, "The last hope for the world."

Highlighting the virtues of the Indian Prime Minister, the subtitle reads, "The world's most beloved and most powerful leader is here to please us."

Modiji's kindness remained hidden from the eyes of the world, but how did the American magazine find out? When social media users tried to find out the veracity of the news, they found out that the New York Times did not give any credit to Modi alone out of so many world leaders present at the UN General Assembly.

The co-founder of Alt News, a well-known publication for fact checks, wrote in his tweet, "If Alt News could be asked more than 25 times on the official number to find out the truth about the New York Times news clip, imagine the reality of this false claim spread across India."

Users of Photoshop kept in mind the timing of making this image viral, but forgot to consider the details. If you look closely, the spelling of the month with the date in the picture is also incorrect, which made September the 'September'.

This fake news is dated November 26, 2021, the day Modi returned home after completing his three-day visit to India. Apart from attending the Quad Summit and addressing the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Modi also met US President Joe Biden at the White House.

The New York Times quoted on social media that Modi's advertisement is being termed as propaganda by India's social media wings.
