WikiLeaks founder allowed to marry in jail

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been granted permission to marry his jailed partner Stella Morris.

According to reports, Julian Assange, who has been in Belmarsh prison since 2019, had recently submitted a marriage proposal to the prison governor.

Julian's request was granted under the Marriage Act 1983 and she was allowed to marry Stella in prison.

A prison spokesman said Julian Assange's request had been received and was treated as a normal request, like any other prisoner's request.

It should be noted that under the Marriage Act 1983, the inmates of the jail have the right to apply for marriage in the jail but the applicant is required to be able to bear all the expenses of the marriage.

Julian and Stella have known each other since 2015 and have two sons, whom Stella is raising alone.
