Tokyo Olympics: Women's football enters quarterfinals

 The women's football events at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 entered the knockout stage after exciting, thrilling and upset competitions. The British women's team, which qualified for the football event for the second time in Olympic history, got off to a good start by beating Chile 2-0 in their first match in Group E. In the next match, the British footballers defeated the host Japan 1-0 while the last match of England was tied 1-1 with Canada. The match between Japan and Canada was also drawn by one goal but Canada managed to beat Chile 2-1.

The Brazilian team in Group F has the honor of qualifying for all the events of the Olympic women's football, but the team has not yet won a gold medal. 

The Brazilian team was runners-up twice and fourth three times and lost once in the quarter-finals. Brazilian women's footballers lost 2-1 to Canada in a bronze medal match at the Rio Olympics on home soil.

The Dutch team, which qualified for the Olympics for the first time, performed brilliantly, beating Zambia, a country participating in Olympic football for the first time, by a huge margin of 10-3. 

There were two hat tricks in this match. All three goals for Zambia were scored by their star forward Barbara Banda, while Dutch player Medima scored four goals, including a hat trick.
