Germany has arrested a Russian scientist accused of spying for Moscow.

A statement from the German Federal Prosecutor's Office stated that the Russian scientist had been arrested on suspicion of providing sensitive information.

According to the federal prosecutor, the scientist is accused of taking sensitive information from a German university and giving it to Moscow in exchange for money. The accused was working for the Russian Secret Service, for which he was arrested a few days ago.

German officials say the suspect also met three times with Russian intelligence officials from October 2020 to June 2021, in which he twice provided intelligence information about the university.
