Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by 31 runs in the final of PSL

 Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by 31 runs to reach the final of the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League.

In pursuit of the 181-run target in the first qualifier of the event at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Islamabad United scored 149 runs.

Usman Khawaja played an excellent innings of 70 runs off 40 balls. Khush Dil Shah caught Imran Tahir's ball.

In-form opener Colin Monroe was bowled on the first ball without scoring a run, Sohail Tanveer got his wicket.

Muhammad Akhlaq scored 10 runs and was run out on Imran Khan's throw.

After Iftikhar Ahmed scored 16 runs, he was caught by wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan on the ball of Mazarbani.

Asif Ali could score only one run, wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan stumped him on the ball of Imran Tahir.

Hussain Talat scored 25 runs. Sohail Tanveer caught him on the ball of Mazarbani.

For Multan Sultans, Sohail Tanveer bowled three wickets for 17 runs in four overs and was declared the best player of the match.

Mazarbani also took three wickets while Imran Tahir guided two players to the pavilion.

Earlier, in the first play-off match of Pakistan Super League 6, Multan Sultans batted first and gave Islamabad United a target of 181 runs.

Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Sohaib Maqsood top scored with 59 runs. His innings included seven fours and three sixes.

Khush Dil Shah scored 42 while Johnson Charles scored 41 runs. Shaun Masood scored 25 runs and became LBW on the ball of Shadab Khan.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan failed to perform well in this match and returned to the pavilion without scoring a run. Mohammad Akhlaq caught him on the ball of Akif Javed.


Riley Russo scored no runs and got LBW on Shadab Khan's ball.

For Islamabad United, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf got two wickets each while Akif Javed got one wicket.
