Dhaka: 7 killed, 70 injured in blast at residential building

 DHAKA: At least seven people were killed and more than 70 others were injured in a blast at a residential building in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka.


According to a foreign news agency, the blast took place in the Mogh Bazaar area of ​​Dhaka, while Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said that the blast was caused by an exploding gas cylinder. No evidence of terrorism was found.


The injured have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said.


Several buses that were stuck in a traffic jam outside the building at the time of the blast were also badly damaged in the blast, while the windows of nearby buildings were shattered.




Sajjad Hussain, head of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, said the cooking gas leak could have been the cause of the fire. An investigation has been launched to find out the real cause of the fatal incident.
