News channels ordered to show Pakistani map before the newsletter, PEMRA

 The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has ordered all current affairs and news channels of the country to show the official map of Pakistan on TV before starting broadcasting at 9 pm.


According to a notification issued by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the government has ordered all TV channels to show a map of Pakistan on a daily basis before airing the 9pm news bulletin, which Will last 2 seconds.

This notification has been issued by PEMRA on November 3.

The notification said that the purpose of doing so is to broadcast a verified map of Pakistan. The statement also included a reference to a September 19 letter from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

It is to be noted that earlier there were reports that Pakistan was preparing to present a new map at the UN General Assembly, in which occupied Jammu and Kashmir was shown as part of Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's statement on the new map also went viral, saying that the new map integrated FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the opposition parties and the Kashmiri leadership were taken into confidence regarding this map.
