Decision to introduce Overseas Pakistanis Voting Bill in Parliament

 Pakistan's federal cabinet has approved a bill in parliament to give Pakistanis abroad the right to vote.


A meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan formally approved the bills to be tabled in the joint sitting of Parliament, after which a joint sitting of Parliament was convened.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan told Urdu News that the Federal Cabinet was briefed on the joint sitting of Parliament in today's session and the Cabinet has approved to present five bills in Parliament.

Babar Awan said that a joint sitting of the Parliament has been convened on November 11 at 11 am in which a bill on electoral reforms including granting voting rights to Pakistanis abroad would be introduced.

He further said that a bill to use electronic voting machine in the election process to strengthen the Election Commission would also be tabled during the joint sitting, besides implementing the decision of the International Court of Justice regarding Kulbhushan Yadav. The bill has also been approved to be tabled in the meeting.

Adviser to the Prime Minister said that various bills related to legal reform and various institutional reform bills are on the agenda of the joint sitting of Parliament.

A cabinet member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, "Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited the coalition parties and members of parliament to a luncheon on Wednesday in which he will be briefed on the joint sitting of parliament."

The Prime Minister has scheduled a luncheon on Wednesday at the Prime Minister's House where Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the members.
