The individual announcer of the moon will have to go to jail

 The federal cabinet has approved legislation on the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee, under which no one other than the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee will be allowed to make a final announcement of the sighting of the moon, and violations will result in jail and fines.

Speaking on  of the Prime Minister Maulana Tahir Ashrafi said that we are one nation and nowhere in the world is it possible for a few people to announce separately after the official announcement.

Tahir Ashrafi said that this law is not for any particular person but its purpose is that as a nation there is no solution in our Ramadan and Eid.

He said that if the chairman of Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee listens to all, then there will be no need for fine or jail sentence but still if anyone does so then there should be fine and punishment.

Allama Tahir Ashrafi said that it should be the prerogative of the state and if anyone violates the state decision at the individual level, action will be taken against him.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Ragheb Naeemi, a member of the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee, said that the government had taken a decision which no other government could do till date.

Maulana Ragheb Naeemi said that the federal government has taken all the provincial governments into confidence in this regard.

He said that there would be regular punishment for violation of the said law and it would be considered as a non-bailable offense which could result in imprisonment for 5 years, fine of Rs. 50,000 or both and which would be decided by the concerned Sessions Court.

Maulana Ragheb Naeemi said that this matter is only a matter of government writ and the decision regarding the case will be taken by the government. He added that if one has thousands or millions of followers, it does not mean that he continues to do as he pleases.

Earlier, during a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that legislation related to the Ruwit Hilal Committee has been approved and now no one other than the federal government will be able to make a final announcement about the sighting of the moon.
