US troops have withdrawn from Afghanistan, Pakistan will be affected if the situation worsens: Shah Mehmood

 Multan: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that US troops have withdrawn from Afghanistan. He said there was concern over rising tensions in Afghanistan and warned that if the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated, Pakistan would be affected.


According to  News, during a visit to the South Punjab Secretariat, he told the media that the Afghan President had met with the US leadership. "There are 3 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan and we can't bear the burden anymore," he said.


Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan went on the gray list during the PML-N era. He said that the present government has expeditiously implemented the FATF Action Plan which has resulted in the implementation of 26 out of 27 goals of FATF.


He claimed that there was no justification for keeping Pakistan on the gray list but some forces were using FATF politically. He said that India used FATF politically.


The Foreign Minister from Multan said that he congratulated the Punjab government on the passage of the budget. He said that the people of South Punjab would have a separate annual development program.


Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that an annual development program of Rs 189 billion has been allocated for South Punjab. He said that a meeting has been held with Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab. He said that efforts were being made to ensure that the money allocated for South Punjab was spent on South Punjab.


The Foreign Minister said that the work of South Punjab Secretariat would start in the first week of August. He said that South Punjab Secretariat would be constructed on 63 acres of land while Secretariat would be constructed on 30 acres of land in Bahawalpur. He clarified that we do not need a post office but authorized officers.


According to  News, he said that the budget allocated for South Punjab is for 11 districts. He said that under C-Pack, he had set up a joint working group with China and formulated a plan for cotton research.


Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Chairman C-Pak Authority would visit Multan next week. He said that he would visit the Cotton Research Institute. He said that he wanted cotton production to be restored in South Punjab.

According to Hum News, he said that Pakistan went on the gray list during the PML-N era. He said that 14 laws related to FATF have been amended. He said that Pakistan implemented 26 out of 27 points of FATF. He said that Pakistan should be in the white list
