Salaries of government employees are expected to increase by 10 to 15 percent

 The federal budget for the next financial year is considering a proposal to increase the salaries of government employees by 10 to 15 percent and pensions by 10 percent.


According to sources, a meeting of the Pay and Pension Commission will be held today to finalize the recommendations related to increase in salaries and pensions.


According to sources, the meeting chaired by the chairperson of the commission Nargis Sethi will consider various recommendations which will be submitted to the finance ministry for final approval.


According to media reports, the Pay and Pension Commission is also preparing a short-term and long-term plan for the reform of the pay and pension system.


Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had announced a 25 per cent increase in the salaries of government employees in the next budget.


In this regard, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan had said that in the last budget there was no increase in salaries for government employees.


He also announced an increase in the minimum wage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Rs 17,000 to Rs 21,000.


The Chief Minister said that the increase in salaries and minimum wages would be effective from July 1 this year.




It may be recalled that last week, the Punjab government had approved an increase in the salaries of government employees.


A special committee meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar to approve the disparity in the salaries of government employees had approved 25 percent special allowance in the salaries of government employees.


Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar had rejected the proposal of 15% and 10% special allowance in the salaries of government employees. Chief Minister Usman Bazdar had directed to give 25% special allowance to government employees.


According to the Punjab government, special allowances will be given to more than 721,000 provincial government employees in grades 1 to 19. This will not include employees who have already received special / executive allowances. Special allowances will be added to salaries in June.


Addressing the meeting, Usman Bazdar had said that government employees are our hands and arms, they are aware of their problems. The budget will also be good news for provincial employees.
