In a new report released just days after the official draw of the FIFA World Cup draw, the human rights organization documented the experiences of 34 employees of eight private security companies.

Amnesty says some migrant workers have been found to be working without a day off for months or years.

Most workers said their employers refused to respect the weekly rest day, which is required by Qatari law, and that workers who took the weekly rest holiday suffered arbitrary wage cuts. ۔

Amnesty says the workers were hired by private companies that provided services for football stadiums as well as other infrastructure projects needed for the World Cup.

At least three companies provided security for the 2020 Club World Cup, 2021 FIFA Arab Cup and FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
