 By the end of the first day of the first Test match, New Zealand scored 258 runs for the loss of 5 wickets thanks to a century by Devon Conway.

Bangladesh won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first at the Bay Oval Ground on Mount Monganoi.

However, Will Young and Devon Conway improved the team's position with a 138-run partnership. Will Young was run out for 52 runs.


Ross Taylor also returned to the pavilion with 31 runs on a total score of 189. Mominul Haq ended Devon Conway's brilliant innings with a total score of 227. He was dismissed for 122 runs.

New Zealand's last wicket-taker was wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Blundell, who was dismissed for 11, after which the umpires announced the end of the first day's play.

Henry Knicks is on the crease with 32 runs which will start the innings with a new batsman tomorrow.

The two-Test series between New Zealand and Bangladesh is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
