Taliban claim to have arrested hundreds of ISIS fighters

A Taliban spokesman says about 600 people linked to ISIS, known as the Islamic State of Khorasan, have been arrested since coming to power in Afghanistan.

Khalil Hamraz, a spokesman for Afghanistan's intelligence directorate, told the media in Kabul on Wednesday that the detainees included several senior ISIS commanders who had been held under tight security.

According to the spokesman, about 40 ISIS militants have been killed in various operations so far. According to the spokesman, the Ashraf Ghani government had released about 1,800 ISIS militants and countless criminals shortly before the Taliban took power in August.

It should be noted that ISIS Khorasan has claimed responsibility for dozens of terrorist attacks in the country in which hundreds of Afghan civilians and Taliban forces personnel have been killed.
