China sells 26 tonnes of Afghan chickpeas in one day

The Afghan Ministry of Industry and Trade says 26 tonnes of Afghan chickpeas were sold at a one-day trade fair in China.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, China is a major market for Afghanistan, and it was sold at an exhibition in Shanghai, China.

It may be recalled that a delegation led by the interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Doha, the capital of Qatar, had recently presented a gift of chickpeas to his Chinese counterpart during a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Zhi.

It should be noted that on November 1, China reactivated direct air trade links to help the Taliban deal with Afghanistan's deteriorating economic and humanitarian crisis.

On Sunday, November 1, a cargo plane carrying 45 tons of Chilgoza left Kabul for the Chinese markets, signaling the resumption of trade after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August.

Bilal Karimi, a spokesman for the Taliban government, said the export was a result of recent broader and more positive talks between Kabul and Beijing.

The Chinese ambassador added in his tweet that these little chickpeas would bring happiness to the Afghan people and good taste to the Chinese people.
