An Indian man used a cobra snake as a tool to kill, pretending to be a fake death and consuming 50 5 million in life insurance, but his plan failed.
Prabhakar Bhimaji Waghchure, 54, of Ahmednagar district in the Indian state of Maharashtra, planned to kill himself by killing a helpless man to get 5 5 million in life insurance in the United States.
According to police, Prabhakar had been living in the US for 20 years and after returning to India in January, he started living in Rajour village in Ahmednagar district. On April 22, officials at the Rajouri police station in Ahmednagar received a report of Waghchura's death from a local government hospital.
When a police constable went to the hospital, a man who identified himself as Waghchura's nephew Parveen identified the body.
After receiving an initial medical report stating that the cause of death was snake bite, the body was handed over to the nephew for final rites.
However, the conspiracy was uncovered when the officials of the insurance firm investigating Waghchura's life insurance claim contacted the Ahmednagar authorities to get more information about his death.
The insurance firm sent an investigator to India to investigate, and after an investigation, police arrested the accused and four of his accomplices last week.
During the investigation, police visited Waghchora's house in Rajouri, where a neighbor said he had not heard of any snake bites but had seen an ambulance coming home at the time of the alleged incident.
According to the Indian Express, when the police started looking at Waghchhora's call records, they found out that he was not only alive but had turned into Parveen in the hospital. Soon after, Waghchura was taken into custody.
Ahmednagar SP Manoj Patil said that the investigator of the insurance claims had investigated the death claim of Vaghchora in detail as the accused had falsely claimed the death of his wife for a life insurance claim in 2017.
According to the investigation, Waghchora and other accused made a plan and bought a cobra from a snake and found a helpless person who looked like Waghchora. The suspects then cut him to death with a cobra.
