Saeed Ghani justified the decision to purchase expensive desks

 Former provincial education minister Saeed Ghani has justified the decision to purchase 29,000 desks in government schools in Sindh.

Recently, Saeed Ghani had said that if Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah wanted to investigate the matter, he should do so.

Saeed Ghani, who was the provincial education minister at the time, had decided to buy 29,000 desks. He said that those who objected should go to the NAB. The decision in this regard is now to be made by the present Education Minister Sardar Shah.

On the other hand, Sindh Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the details of the desk contract have been removed from the CIPRA website.

He said that there was a quarrel among the government ministers over the issue of desk contract.

Earlier, the matter of purchase of a desk for government schools in Sindh for Rs 29,000 had reached the Sindh High Court, on which the court had issued notices to both the parties and also fixed two benches for hearing.

Recently, on the issue of corruption in government school desks, the provincial education minister Sardar Shah Azar had announced the purchase of node desks. Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani and Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah in a joint press conference had said that a Central Procurement Committee was formed in May 2018, headed by Nisar Siddiqui. The bids received by the committee were rejected by the committee. The bids were for Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 6,000.
