Hopefully Pakistan will play a role for a peaceful Afghanistan, US

US Secretary of State Anthony Blankenship says the United States hopes peace in Islamabad will continue to play its part for Afghanistan.

In an interview with Indian media on the sidelines of his visit to India, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, "We hope that peace in Islamabad will play its part in Afghanistan." Pakistan has an important role in Afghanistan and we are sure that Pakistan will use its influence on the Taliban to ensure that the Taliban do not take over the country by force and Pakistan has influence and it has played its role. Has to pay and we hope he will pay.

He said the United States would continue to support the Afghan security forces and the Kabul government. Certainly what we have seen on the ground in recent weeks is that the Taliban are advancing towards district centers, challenging many of Afghanistan's provincial capitals. We are also seeing reports of atrocities committed by the Taliban in these areas which are a matter of deep concern and certainly do not show the good intentions of the Taliban for the whole country.

The Secretary of State said that China's growing interest in Afghanistan could be a "positive thing." If Beijing wants a peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict and a truly representative government there, the United States will welcome China's role.
