 A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed that a foreign intelligence service had been deployed. Investigations are underway against the officers involved. Action will be taken according to law.

Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said in a weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, July 15 that the appointment of an officer in the Foreign Office to spy on C-Pak has been revealed. The officer involved was on deputation to the Foreign Office. An investigation is underway against the spying officer. Action will be taken against the officer involved in espionage as per law.

The spokesman for Afghanistan clarified that Pakistan is not a party, but a supporter of peace and the Afghan people. Pakistan cannot bear the burden of new Afghan refugees. Internal and external stakeholders have a role to play in Afghan peace.
