Tehran: Turkey announces no more troops after US withdrawal from Afghanistan

According to a foreign news agency, Turkish Defense Minister Pelosi Akar has unequivocally announced that he will not send any more troops for the security of Kabul Airport after the withdrawal of US troops.

He said talks were underway with the United States on logistical and financial support for the mission and the issue would be discussed with the US delegation on Thursday.

The Turkish Defense Minister clarified that Turkey will have a security mission at Kabul Airport for 6 years and under the NATO mission we have 500 troops in Afghanistan.

It should be noted that Turkey had offered to take over the management of Kabul Airport. Turkey and the United States will hold talks on Thursday.

Last week, the US National Security Adviser said in a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit that it was agreed that Turkey would play a key role in the safe withdrawal of NATO and US forces from the Karzai airport and later in airport security. ۔
