BCCI confirms transfer of T20 World Cup to UAE

 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it cannot hold the scheduled T20 World Cup in October.


According to a report by a foreign news agency, the BCCI has taken a stand that the T20 World Cup cannot be held in India due to the global epidemic of corona virus.


"We have formally informed the ICC to move the T20 World Cup to the United Arab Emirates," said Sarvo Ganguly, chairman of the Indian Cricket Board.


He said that this decision has been taken keeping in view the hygiene of all the stakeholders of the tournament.


Regarding the start date of the tournament, he said that no date has been finalized yet, consultations will be held soon in this regard.


It may be recalled that a few days ago, Kirk Info had claimed in its report that the scheduled T20 World Cup in India has been shifted to the UAE due to the global epidemic Corona virus.


The T20 World Cup will be played in two phases in the UAE and Oman.


In the first round, 8 teams will participate in two groups of four and will play 12 matches. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the next round.


A total of 30 matches will be played in the Super 12 round, which will start on October 24. Two groups of six teams will be formed.


All matches of this stage will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
