QUETTA: Banking fraud, former bank manager sentenced to 27 years in prison

 A local court in Quetta has sentenced a former branch manager and accomplice of National Bank to 27 years in prison for embezzling crores of rupees. The banking fraud case was filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to the lawsuit, Abdul Qayyum and Manzoor Ahmed, former managers of National Bank Ziarat branch, had embezzled more than Rs. 131.1 million from government funds.

A team of Federal Investigation Agency headed by Director FIA Balochistan had filed challans and evidence against the culprits in the Banking Court Quetta.

Banking Court Quetta Judge Munir Ahmed Murree sentenced Abdul Qayyum and Manzoor Ahmed to a total of 27 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 65 million.

The court has ordered that in case of non-payment of the fine, the convicts will have to serve 2 more years and 6 months imprisonment.

Earlier on April 22, a local court in Quetta had also convicted him of embezzling crores of rupees.

According to the report, Syed Ibn Al-Hassan Naqvi, former manager of Muslim Commercial Bank Hub Chowki Branch, had embezzled Rs 2 crore in Lasbela Industrial Estate Development Authority (LIDA) funds three years ago.
